Airlink confirms that it will commence operating daily scheduled flights between Johannesburg (ORTIA) and Maun Botswana from Friday 15 June 2012. “Airlink is very pleased to have recently been awarded designation on this route by the South African Department of Transport and we can confirm that this has been acknowledged and accepted by the Botswana authorities. The route services a premier international African Safari market and will work in synergy with a number of other Airlink routes and touch points, notably Cape Town – Nelspruit Kruger and Livingstone, as well as those serviced by South African Airways and its Star Alliance partner airlines” said Karin Murray, Airlink’s Sales and Marketing Manager. “Flights have already been loaded in the Global Distribution Systems and are available for world-wide sales. Our franchise partner SAA will provide global sales support to the trade (outside the borders of South Africa) from their country offices, we ask Tour Operators to contact their regional SAA office for any additional information they may require, all sectors are e-ticket able and can be issued on a single ticket in conjunction with other SAA sectors” added Karin. Airlink will be operating the route with one of its fleet of 10 Embraer ERJ 137 regional jets, these are configured with 37 economy seats.
Airlink’s daily flights will operate as follows:
• Depart OR Tambo International JNB 11:45 arrive MUB Maun 13:15
• The return flights depart Maun at 14:00 arrive JNB 15:40 Flights are timed so as to connect with the majority of international morning arrivals, domestic and regional flights from points such as Cape Town and then the afternoon wave of Intercontinental departures as well as flights onward to Cape Town and other domestic destinations such as Nelspruit Kruger.
